Things You'll Need:
- Screw Drivers- regular and phillips heads
- needle nose pliers
- wire strippers
- plenty of 14g 12g and 4g wire about 12 feet of each
- Electric tape
- Amplifier and Sub woofer with enclosure
- Wire rings and wire connectors
-
Step 1
Gather materials. I can not say this enough. Always be prepared and projects will go much faster.no make sure the battery is un-hooked mostly the positve but take them off in the negative positive order. And make sure everything will fit where you want it to other wise you have to start over.
-
Step 2
This is not going to be the prettiest install but you can go back and clean things up later. If you would like to drill a hole though the fire wall of your vehicle go out and buy a tear down book for that vehicle that way you don't ruin anything.
-
Step 3
Start at the trunk of the vehicle or where ever you are placing the amp and sub woofer. Connect a 12g wire to the standby and battery wires. Depending on your vehicle, find a route to run the wires from the amp to the stereo. but remember to stay in the vehicle. Usually just run them though the seats then along the driver side up to the dash. Do this to both wires but do not connect them yet!
-
Step 4
Connect the ground wire to the amplifier. This will usually come in the box with the amp. If not any 2g wire will do. Connect this to any bare metal of the vehicle. You may need to use some sand paper and a drill to make a place to post under ther carpet on the floor of the vehicle. if you do make sure you can't see this(cover it up with the carpet).
-
Step 5
Now that the amp is grounded let's go ahead and connect it to the head unit(stereo). Connect all the same color wires together. if you can not find the same color wires go pick up a Wire Harness Kit for your vehicle. Any auto store or walmart will have one. then just follow the chart on the wire harness kit.
-
Step 6
Now that we have the amp hooked up to the head unit, we can hook the amp to the sub woofer. Make sure you dont mix up the positive and negative wires. On the side of the amp will be 2-4 post with neg. and pos. signs on them. hook the wires accordingly and screw down so they don't become loose.
-
Step 7
Since all the wires are in place and everything fits the way it should, go ahead and hook the battery terminals back to the battery post, tighten them and turn on the vehicle. if all the wires are connected and nothing came lose then the head unit will turn on and the sub woofer will push out some bass. Congrats you've put in a SUB!
