How to Decorate a Cowboy Hat for Mardi Gras

Mardi Gras is one big party. The key to enjoying Mardi Gras is to get festive. Decorate a cowboy hat for Mardi Gras, and head down to the parade. It'll keep your head safe from flying moon pies and make you look snazzy.

• A cowboy hat
• Hot glue gun
• Glue sticks
• Colored doubloons
• Maribou feathers
• Mardi Gras beads
• Peacock feathers
• Scissors

Decorate Your Cowboy Hat for Mardi Gras

1. Use a hot glue gun to carefully glue the maribou feathers on to the edge of the cowboy hat. Work with smaller pieces of about 3 to 6 inches at a time. Work feathers completely around the edge of the hat.

2. Still using your hot glue gun, add some beads to your cowboy hat. Let the beads hang down swag about every 3 inches. This will give the beads a little movement.

3. Around the crown or the top of the hat, use the doubloons. Add some different colored plastic coins by dotting glue on them and sticking them to the hat.

4. For a bit of extra flair, add a few peacock feathers to the brim of the hat. Snip them down a bit before using your glue to attach them to the hat band.

5. Add peacock feathers or maribou feathers around the hat band. After all the glue dries, you can pull away any extra glue strings from the hat.
