PRC files are eBooks, designed to be read using an eBook reader such as the Sony eBook, Kindle, iPhone or BlackBerry. PRC files can be converted to PDFs for reading on the computer (Mac or PC). Conversion programs are available on the Internet; popular eBook converters for the PC include the Mobipocket eBook reader and for the Mac, Stanza by Lexcycle.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • USB cable for the eBook reader device
  1. Step 1

Connect your device to your computer using the supplied USB cable and launch your eBook conversion application. Select "Open" or "Open File" under File in the top menu bar of your eBook application. Select your file and click "Open."

  2. Step 2

Select "Export" under File in the top menu bar and select your desired device or eBook format. Type the file name and select a location on your computer and click "Save." eBook files can be easily located if you set up a folder to serve as a library.

  3. Step 3

Open a window of the folder containing your converted eBook file and open your eBook device in a second window. (On Macs, you can see the device in your Finder window. On PCs, it can be seen under My Computer). Select your converted eBook file and drag it to your eBook device. This will copy the file automatically into your device for reading.

  4. Step 4

Eject your eBook device (on Macs via your Finder window and on PCs via My Computer) by selecting the device and selecting "Eject" under File in the top menu bar of your home or Finder screen. Disconnect your eBook device and USB from your computer. Locate your newly converted eBook on your device for reading.
