How to Stay Cool in Hot Weather thumbnail
Stay cool in the sun by following easy steps!

You may welcome sunny, summer days, but sometimes you can get too much of a good thing. Too much heat can lead to discomfort at best and heat stroke at worst. Take precautions to avoid overheating and find ways to enjoy the warm temperatures. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

    • 1

Wear light clothing and use a big hat and sunglasses. The hat will shield your head from the sun and create shade over your face and shoulders. The sunglasses will help alleviate that annoying glare from a hot sun. Light-colored clothing will all deflect the sun and keep you cooler.

    • 2

Cool down by putting a cold pack on the back of your neck.

    • 3

Avoid caffeine and alcohol, two substances that will dehydrate you. Drink plenty of water.

    • 4

Participate in some water sports, such as aqua-aerobics or swimming, or just wade in the water.

    • 5

Put your pillow cases and sheets into plastic bags, then put them in the freezer. Take them out before bed to keep you cool as you fall asleep.

    • 6

Spend the hottest part of the afternoon in your basement, which is usually cooler than the rest of the house. Keep your curtains closed to repel direct sunlight and keep your home cooler.
