How to Remove Contacts From a Gmail Chat

Gmail is known for its email system, but it also includes an instant messenger feature that allows users to chat with friends and family. Contacts in Gmail chat automatically appear in the contact section after corresponding in email, but removing them takes a few manual steps.

Instructions
  1. Step 1

    On the left side of the Gmail screen, click on the "Contact" link just above the chat list. This brings you to the Gmail contact section.

  2. Step 2

    Click the contact you want to delete.

  3. Step 3

    On the right side of the window, click the "Delete" button.

  4. Step 4

    On the confirmation screen, click "OK."

  5. Step 5

    Click the "In Box" link at the left of the screen to return to your email window.
