How to Get Rid of Women's Facial Hair

Some women are born with genes that cause them to grow unsightly facial hair, leaving them trying to get rid of it through a vast array of processes. Other women are simply interested in learning about their options for shaping or thinning their eyebrows. There are many different ways that women can remove unwanted facial hair. |Some they can do on their own; others are better left to the professionals.

Getting Rid of Women's Facial Hair

1. Shave to remove hair from a large area in a short amount of time. This should be used only as a last resort, however, because it will reappear quickly and a dark "shadow" will be left behind as the fine tip of the hair is removed, leaving a flat, more noticeable tip on the hair. Always use shave gel and soak your razor in warm water before using.

2. Tweeze any stray hairs on your face. Place ice over the area for a few seconds before tweezing to numb the area and reduce pain. Pull quickly and in the direction that the hair naturally grows.

3. Spread a depilatory over a large area of hair that you would like to remove and let sit for the amount of time indicated in the directions. Rinse the cream away with a warm washcloth, and the hair should go with it. Don't use a depilatory if you have sensitive or easily irritated skin.

4. Wax eyebrows or other large areas of hair for quick removal. Heat the wax in the microwave according to the directions. Spread it over the hair that you would like to remove; then place a waxing strip over the warm wax and rub it on. While holding the skin taut, pull off the strip quickly and in the direction that the hair grows.

5. Have facial hair removed professionally through electrolysis. This is a much more permanent solution, but also more costly. Some hairs may grow back, and it may take more than one trip to get all of the hairs, as some may be missed the first time around.

Tips & Warnings

• For unwanted facial hair above the lip, you can bleach it rather than trying to remove it. This should render it unnoticeable. You can go to a salon to have waxing done professionally if you aren't comfortable doing it yourself.
