How to grip a ping-pong paddle

  1. Step 1

Grab the ping pong paddle with your natural hand. The paddle should rest snugly against where your thumb and palm meet. The handle will extend down the inside of your palm while the round section of the paddle will protrude above your hand.

  2. Step 2

Wrap your four fingers around the handle of the paddle. This will allow you to firmly grip the paddle and prevent it from slipping out of your hand.

  3. Step 3

Place the thumb over over the index finger closes to the top of the handle. This adds further stability and prevents the thumb from getting in the way of the ball.
