  1. Step 1

First think about what you enjoy. What passions do you have? For example, do you have a passion for helping people? If so maybe you should get into the health care industry or human services.

  2. Step 2

Once you have figured out what types of things you enjoy doing and what you’re passionate about start researching what types of things you can do with those passions. A great place to start this research is at a community college they can let you know where those types of passions are needed and useful. Additionally, you can begin this research through search engines or even going to your local library.

  3. Step 3

Once you have thought of or found a few interesting idea’s you can further your research by researching exactly what is required of those fields.

  4. Step 4

You can research what the average pay and benefits are for the field. These are some useful sites

    www.bls.gov

  5. Step 5

Once you have your new career figured out it’s time to take action. If it requires a college degree and you have not talked with a college already start looking for local colleges that offer your degree.

Tips & Warnings
  • You can get your education at a fraction of the cost by attending a community college compared to private colleges. Even if you start your education at a community college and then transfer to a private college later you’ll save money.
  • Be cautious when dealing with private colleges. Private colleges are mostly there to make a profit and do not hold your best interest at heart. However, this is not true of all private colleges but do your research on all colleges you are considering.
