Recycling cell phones is important because it reduces the amounts of metals and plastics that must be manufactured in the plants that make these devices. It can also lower greenhouse emissions, not to mention that recycled cell phones can be used to help those who are less fortunate. Most people don't recycle their cell phones because they just aren't aware that they can. You can inform people that this is possible and get them recycling their old cell phones in no time.

  • E-mail addresses
  • Facebook account
  • Acceptance facility

  1. Step 1

    E-mail the link below from the EPA web site to all of the friends you have e-mail addresses for. Let them know in the message that the link will give them specific locations where they can turn in their old cell phones as well as mailing addresses if they prefer to mail their old cell phones.

  2. Step 2

    Encourage your friends to forward your e-mail to their friend lists to get the word out. This is the fastest way to reach the largest number of people.

  3. Step 3

    Place the link below on your Facebook page. Your friends will all see your update and will be reminded that they can recycle their old cell phones.

  4. Step 4

    Make a flyer and get permission to post it on your grocery stores' bulletin boards. Everyone needs groceries so you are bound to get some individuals to recycle their cell phones when they see your flyer. Make sure you list which stores accept the old cell phones.
