How to See Who is Using Your Wireless Internet
Have you noticed that your wireless Internet service tends to get slower when most people are at home from work? Maybe your wireless connection gets slower after kids get out of school for the summer. The reasoning could possibly be that some of your neighbors are at their home using your wireless Internet connection. If your wireless Internet connection is not secure, then you have been an easy target to provide free WiFi to the neighborhood.

Power on all of the computers in your home that are connected to your wireless network. Power on your wireless router.

Locate the IP address for your computer that is connected to your wireless network. To do this, open your command prompt. At the prompt, type "ipconfig" and press "Enter" on your keyboard. If you have more than one computer in your home that is connected to your wireless network, you will need to go to each individual computer and get the IP addresses from the command prompt.

Write down the IP addresses that are associated with your computers. Open your Internet browser.

Type the IP address for your wireless router into your Internet browser. The default router IP address for most routers is 192.168.1.1. However, your router may have a different address. Once you have typed in the IP address for your wireless router, press "Enter" on your keyboard. This will take you to your router configuration page.

Click on the option to view "log files." Once you are in the log files, you should see all of the IP addresses of computers that has been accessing your wireless network. To find out if other computers have been accessing your wireless network, you will have to use the process of elimination. This is done by looking for IP addresses that match the computers in your home or office. If you see an IP address listed that does not belong to any of your computers, you have identified a computer that has been using your wireless Internet without your permission.

Change to an encrypted router connection that requires a password key for access if you want to cut down on the number of intruders accessing your WiFi.
Using a password key cuts down on the number of intruders. However, it does not prevent a determined hacker from hacking into your computer via your wireless network.

Can't find the date this was written. It's aggod idéa for finding out if someone is using your internet. I was looking for something else thought. I want to find out (somehow) how much of my internet speed is used by each computer in my wireless network. I actually let my neighbours use my internet, but I want to be able to pinpoint which users are downloading alot of torrents and stuff like that. Not to be a police or so, it's more that they know it's my network and they know I dont mind that they use it to surf, but I don't like if they slow it down by downloading alot of movies and stuff so I want to exclude be able to see so I can ask them to stop, or atleast minimize their downloading. -
