How to Compute Skins in a Golf Game
The game of golf can be scored in many different ways. One example is a scoring system called Skins. When playing Skins, players are competing to have the lowest score on a single hole. If a player has the lowest score without tieing any of his opponents, she wins the value of that "skin" for the current hole. The player with the most skins at the end of the round of golf is the winner.
Instructions
-
-
1
Allow two to four golfers to play in the game of Skins.
-
2
Assign a value to each hole that you will be playing during your round of golf. To start a game of Skins, it is typical to use one point per hole.
-
-
3
Award the number of skins for the current hole to the player with the lowest score on the hole. If there is a tie, the skin from that hole and any previous skins that were carried over to that hole are now rolled over to the next hole. For example, if Tom scores a 3 on hole one and Jim scores a 4, Tom gets the skin for that hole. If both players score a 3, though, that skin is added to hole two, and two skins will be awarded to the player with the lowest score on hole two.
-
4
Keep track of the number of skins available on each hole and the number of skins each player has won.
-
5
Total the number of skins each player has at the end of the game of golf. The player with the most skins is the winner.

Tips & Warnings
It is possible for a large number of skins to be won on a single hole. For example, assume two players have the same score on each of the first five holes, and then Tom scores lower than Jim on hole six. Tom would win six skins on hole six because of the five skins that carried over from the first five holes, plus the skin for hole six.
Determine a tiebreaker before the game begins, in case multiple players have the same score on the last hole. You can consider awarding those skins to the last player who won a hole's skins before the ties, or you can play additional holes until someone scores lower than her opponents.
