Step 1
The height of mobile home skirting is fairly standard at twelve inches. You should verify the height of skirting that you require for your mobile home prior to purchasing skirting. This is done by measuring from the ground to the highest point on the bottom of the mobile home and then adding one inch. The distance from the ground to the bottom of the mobile home may differ based on ground configuration.
-
Step 2
Measure the length of all sides of the mobile home. Record this measurement in feet and inches. At a minimum, you will have four measurements. If your mobile home has push-outs, you will you have more than four measurements.
-
Step 3
Add all of the length measurements together. This will give you the linear feet of skirting that is required to go around the mobile home.
-
Step 4
Depending on local weather conditions (humidity levels, temperature ranges, and so on) you will need to have a certain number of vented panels per linear foot. For the most accurate information on this, please refer to your contractor or supplier.
Don't forget the option of adding a panel door in your skirting for easy access to the undercarriage of the mobile home for repairs or maintenance requirements. -
Step 5
Contact your skirting supplier and give him the linear feet of skirting and the height of the mobile home from the ground. If you are purchasing skirting yourself at a supplier, follow the manufacturer's required panels (vented or not) to cover the required area. If you are purchasing skirting from a contractor, she will refer to the manufacturer's instructions for required panels to cover the required area.
