How to Make a Crossbows & Arrows
A crossbow is a medieval weapon that was used both for combat as well as for hunting purposes. These highly effective weapons still exist today and are used in a number of different militaries around the world as well as by game hunters. These bows are typically made of wood and form a shape similar to that of a “T” and fire arrows or rods at their targets.

1
Cut one wood board down to 2 feet in length and cut a second board to 3 feet in length. The 3-foot wood piece (which will look similar to a 2 x 4) will be used as the barrel of this crossbow.
-
2
Use 100-grit sandpaper to sand both sides of both wood pieces until the surfaces are smooth and there are no splintered pieces sticking out of the wood.
-
-
3
Lay the 2-foot piece across the 3-foot piece about 3-4 inches from the very edge of the board. Drive some wood screws through the boards to attach them together.
-
4
Drive one wood screw into each end of the crossbeam piece about an inch in from the end. Leave the screws sticking up enough to tie your rubber band to the screws.
-
5
Take the 117 size rubber band and cut the loop so it is just one long piece. Secure the rubber band around one of the wood screws sticking up, and then stretch the rubber band down to the other screw and tie it securely.
-
6
Locate some thin wood sticks or branches that are about an inch in diameter. Use your knife to cut these sticks down to about 6 inches in length.
-
7
Strip off the bark using your knife and whittle one end of the stick down into a point.
-
8
Place the stick in the middle of the rubber band, pull back and release.
