How to Convert MP3 to AIFF on an OS X

Audio Interchange File Format (AIFF), is a file format used by Mac computers to store high-quality audio such as music. Nowadays, music is often stored in MP3 format, which can be automatically converted to AIFF using iTunes, which is included in Mac OS X. QuickTime Pro may also be used to convert MP3 to AIFF files.

Instructions

    Convert Using iTunes

  1. Step 1

    Insert the medium into your computer, and launch the iTunes application.

  2. Step 2

    In the top menu bar, under iTunes, select "Preferences" (or use Option +).

  3. Step 3

    Select "General," and then click on "Import" settings.

  4. Step 4

    Choose "AIFF Encoder" under the "Import Using" menu, and click "OK."

  5. Step 5

    Click "OK" to exit from the Preferences menu.

  6. Step 6

    Select your file, and in the top menu, select Create AIFF version under "Advanced." Your converted file will appear as part of your iTunes library.

  7. Convert Using QuickTime Pro

  8. Step 1

    Insert the medium with the MP3 file into your computer and launch the QuickTime Pro application.

  9. Step 2

    Choose "Open File" from the top menu under File and then select your song.

  10. Step 3

    Select "Export" under File, type your file name and choose your desired file location.

  11. Step 4

    In the Export pop-up, select "Sound to AIFF" and click "OK."

Tips & Warnings
  • Advanced settings can be set as default settings in either iTunes or QuickTime Pro.
