Things You'll Need:
- Moisturizing shampoo
- Conditioner
- wide tooth comb
- plastic head cap
-
Step 1
Choose a moisturizing shampoo. African American hair tends to be drier than other hair types. It is best to shampoo in the shower in order to keep the hair from tangling. Rinse the hair thoroughly before you shampoo. Shampoo the roots only, and let the suds travel to the ends of the hair. This will prevent the ends from getting dry.

Step 2
Apply a conditioner that is made for course or dry hair. Look for African American conditioners or look for the term "Dry Hair" on the container. Comb the conditioner through your hair and place a plastic hair cap on your head. Sit under a hooded dryer for 10-30 minutes or let it sit on your head for 30 minutes if you do not have a dryer.

Step 3
Rinse thoroughly. Put an oil on your hair while it is still wet with a leave in conditioner. Kimi Oil is great! Sit under a hooded dryer if possible.
