Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Paper
  • Pens
  • Dictionary
  • Personal Computer
  1. Step 1

First, think about the person for whom you are writing the sympathy card. Achieve success writing sympathy messages by planning out exactly what you want to say. Your message should be heart-felt and simple. Remember your personal experience with the deceased and their family. Document specific ways that the person affected your life when they were alive.

  2. Step 2

Second, open a dictionary and start flipping through the pages. Look for words that will enable you to express your sympathetic feelings. Write down words that show much you will miss the person who died and how much you feel for the family. Search online for words, phrases and songs that describe the special times you shared with the person.

  3. Step 3

Finally, begin writing a sympathy message on your computer. Edit it over and over until you have created a special and unique message for the family of the deceased. Sign the card and let the family know that you are available if they need help in the future.
