Step 1
Maybe your Dad would love a wine basket for Father's DayIf your Dad appreciates fine wine, get him a membership to a Wine of the Month club. Just make sure that the Wine Club can ship wine to your particular state (Maryland is one of the states where wine cannot be shipped - bummer). There are clubs for about any type of item your Dad might enjoy - think beer, fruit, or candy. Select a 3 or 4 month club to give you Dad a Father's Day gift that keeps on giving.
-
Step 2
A grill set can be a great gift for your Dad for Father's DayIf your Dad has a particular sport he enjoys, such as baseball or golf, consider getting him a gift to help him enjoy the sport. Monogrammed golf balls seem to always be popular as are sports cushions to make your Dad's visit to a sport's stadium more comfortable. Consider a Father's Day present of a few tickets to a special sports event for your Dad and Mom to enjoy together. Also, it might be a bit altruisic, but, if your Dad likes to grill, how about a new grilling set for a great Father's Day gift?
-
Step 3
Give your Dad a new memory for Father's Day by getting him something for Father's Day that he would never get himself, like a hot air balloon ride or a ride in a biplane. I got a biplane ride for my 50th birthday and will never forget the thrill. Maybe your Mom and Dad would like a gourmet dinner cruise on a local river boat for a nifty Father's Day present.
-
Step 4
If your Dad is a fix-it type guy, maybe a new tool to add to his collection would be a nice choice for a Father's Day gift. I'm not a fan of gift cards, but, a gift card to Home Depot or Lowe's might fit the bill for your Dad for Father's Day - that way, Dad can pick out what he needs.
-
Step 5
It's always nice to give your Dad a Father's Day gift of your time. Wash and wax your Dad's car as surprise in the morning or go out and mow and trim the lawn. Dad is certain to appreciate any kind gesture on Father's Day.

on 5/20/2009 Good ideas for how to find a gift for dad for Father's Day. Personally, I favor a new 24" iMac for all Father's Day gifts but that's just me... Thanks for a very nicely written and thoughtful article - 5* from an Old Dad using an Old Mac.
