How to Make the Best Play Dough Ever

This is the best recipe for homemade playdough, and it is so easy to make!

Difficulty: Moderately Easy

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

• 1 Cup flour
• 1/2 Cup salt
• 1 Cup water
• 2 tsp Cream of Tarter
• 2 TBSP oil
• optional: Wilton icing coloring (or regular food coloring)

1. 

   In a sauce pan, combine 1 Cup flour, 2 tsp Cream of Tarter and 1/2 Cup of salt.

   In a liquid measuring cup (or in a bowl), combine 1 Cup water with 1 TBSP oil.

3. 

   Mix the two together. Place on the stove and cook on high while continuing to stir. Take care not to let it burn! When it clumps together and pulls away from the side, you can remove it from the heat. It should only take 2 or 3 minutes...very quick!

   Finished product! One recipe colored with hot pink icing coloring.

   Dump on counter and knead until it is all mixed together thoroughly and cool enough to play with. Your homemade playdough is complete!

   Optional: If you want different colors, divide the finished playdough into sections, each one for a different color. Mix a small amount of icing coloring (or food coloring) into each section.

Tips & Warnings

• You can add the food/icing coloring before cooking, but if you want to make one batch of white and then divide it into smaller sections to color (less cooking), it makes more sense to add it last.
• To keep playdough soft and moist, simply store each color in its own zip baggie.
• These make really great inexpensive gifts for children!
• Children can help make this recipe pretty easily, but be sure to supervise closely around heat or have an adult cook the dough themselves.
