Braided hairstyles are a popular look for both men and women. Men with longer hair can braid their hair into small cornrows for an attractive and easy-to-care-for hairstyle. Creating a braided cornrow hairstyle is not difficult, but it does take a lot of time.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Fine-tooth and wide-tooth combs
  • Water in spray bottle
  • Clips
  • Rubber bands
  • Paper and pencil
  1. Step 1

Sketch a general idea of the desired braided hairstyle. Draw the head and then plan out how you want the braids to look on the scalp. Men often like to create a zigzag hairstyle with braids. Plan out how the zigzags will interlock together before attempting to braid this style into the hair.

  2. Step 2

Comb through the hair with the wide-tooth comb.

  3. Step 3

Separate a small strip for braiding at the top of the head according to the plan created in Step 1. Pull back the remaining hair out of the way with clips.

  4. Step 4

Spray the separated strip of hair lightly with the spray bottle and comb through it with the fine-tooth comb.

  5. Step 5

Take a small amount of hair at the edge of the strip and separate it into three equal parts with the fine-tooth comb.

  6. Step 6

Cross the left outer part of hair tightly over the middle section. Repeat with the right outer part of hair. Grab a small amount of the hair immediately behind the braid you have started and add it to the center part of the braid. Cross the left outer part of hair over the middle section again. Grab a small amount of the hair immediately behind the braid again and add it to the center part of the braid.

  7. Step 7

Finish braiding this section in the same fashion. Secure the braid tightly with a rubber band at the end.

  8. Step 8

Repeat Steps 3 through 7 with more sections of hair according to the plan created in Step 1.
