How to Make a MOTD for a CSS Server
CSS servers are great tools for managing Web hosting, game server hosting and many other types of media. The MOTD (message of the day) function for your CSS server allows you to commonly update information for all users of the server. The process of updating and changing a MOTD is actually quite simple and requires only the most basic of software tools.

Access Windows Explorer by clicking on the "Start" button in Windows and then clicking on "All Programs." Then click on "Accessories" and "Windows Explorer."

Navigate to your CSS server folder using Windows Explorer.

Locate the server.cfg file in this folder. It may be located in a "Settings" or "Configuration" folder, depending on your CSS build. However, this file will usually be located in the CSS base folder.

Right-click on the server.cfg file and click "Open With." In the pop-up window, select "Notepad." Allow the configuration file a few moments to open before you continue.

In the Notepad window, press the Ctrl key and the F key on your keyboard. This will open the Find window.

Type "motd" in the search bar of the window. Then, press "Search." The search bar will automatically navigate to the MOTD section of the configuration file.

Type a MOTD in the section just below the "MOTD" area.

Tips & Warnings
Create a shortcut of the configuration file on your desktop for easy, quick access to the MOTD setting.
Do not change other settings within the configuration file, since changing these improperly can damage the server and prevent it from working.
