How to Write in Russian in Photoshop

Sometimes in graphics work, it is necessary to use a foreign language, such as Russian. To do this in Photoshop is no problem, as long as you have the right fonts installed and have correctly translated the information you wish to relate.

      Go to a site that has Russian fonts, and download one (see Resources). Then, install it to Photoshop by extracting it to your operating system's font folder, such as "win9x \windows\fonts"

      In a word processing program, type up the phrase you want to use in English. Select the text and copy it (right click and select "Copy").

      Go to one of the free online translation services (see Resources). Select "English to Russian." Paste your text into the translator (right click and select "Paste"), then click "Translate." Watch as the English is translated into Russian.

      Use the mouse to highlight the Russian text, then right-click and copy it. Open a new document in Photoshop and create the image background for the document you are creating.

      Go to the Tools panel and click on the "Text" tool. Move the cursor to the top menu and from the list of available fonts, select the Russian font you installed, which will now be listed there. Click on the image and paste in your text.
