Install a 220-volt electric dryer to enjoy the convenience of drying your clothes at home. A dryer takes care of drying fabrics much better than line hanging. Dryers leave clothing softer without fading colors. A home or apartment with washer and dryer hook-ups will have the necessary electrical outlets and a dryer vent to accommodate an electric dryer.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Dryer vent hose
  • 2 ring clamps
  • Phillips head screwdriver

How to Install a 220v Electric Dryer

  1. Step 1

Stand the dryer up near the exhaust vent and the 220v electrical outlet. Turn the 4 screw supports at the bottom to level the machine. Turn the legs clockwise to make them shorter or counterclockwise to lengthen them.

  2. Step 2

Connect the dryer vent exhaust hose. Place a ring clamp over one end of the hose and slip it over the exhaust port on the back of the dryer. Pull the ring clamp up over the part of the hose that's covering the exhaust port. Tighten the clamp with a Phillips screwdriver. Connect the other end of the hose to the wall vent output, using the same method.

  3. Step 3

Plug in the 220v power cord. Plug the 3-prong plug into the wall outlet. Take care not to touch the prongs as you insert the plug.

  4. Step 4

Insert the lint filter. If the lint filter is already in place, pull it out and remove all dust before using the dryer.
