Cycling requires a wide array of equipment, including the bike itself. It is important to keep your cycling equipment organized in a safe place. If you keep your bicycles in your garage and want to free up some storage space, consider building an outdoor bike storage rack. Place this convenient rack in your back yard, under an awning or on the porch.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Utility hooks
  • 2-by-4 inch lumber
  • Saw
  • Screw gun
  1. Step 1

Cut the 2-by-4 inch lumber into two 3-foot sections and three 6-foot sections.

  2. Step 2

Build two "T"s. Screw the 3-foot sections onto the bottoms of two of the 6-foot sections with the screw gun.

  3. Step 3

Turn the "T"s over so that the 3-foot sections become the base of the rack. Screw the remaining 6-foot section onto the tops of the two bases.

  4. Step 4

Screw the utility hooks into the bottom of the rack's horizontal, 6-foot cross member at 2-foot intervals.

  5. Step 5

To use the rack, hang the bicycle's front wheel on one of the hooks. Repeat for as many bicycles as you have hooks.

Tips & Warnings
  • You can either place this rack under an awning or roof, or drape a large tarp over the entire apparatus to keep the weather off your bikes.
