How To Clear Search History From AVG Toolbars

AVG is an antivirus program that is absolutely free for home users and works as well as or better than many of the antivirus software that is sold at high prices at electronics stores. When AVG is downloaded, there is an option to download the AVG Toolbar, which is AVG's Internet search bar (much like MSN's Live Search or Yahoo Search). For people who value their privacy, AVG Toolbar becomes a problem when it's time to erase the history after an internet search. You can't delete the AVG Toolbar history as easily as you can the regular Internet history. You have to dig into your system folder to find a file that contains the search history. The procedure isn't difficult at all, but it's easily more difficult that deleting the history of your Web browser.

Instructions
  1. Step 1

    Click on "Computer" or "My Computer" to open it.

  2. Step 2

    Click on your main hard drive, which is normally the (C:) drive.

  3. Step 3

    Click on the "Users" system folder.

  4. Step 4

    Click on the folder of the current user.

  5. Step 5

    Click on the "Application Data" folder.

  6. Step 6

    Click on "AVG Toolbar."

  7. Step 7

    Find the file "COMBOSEARCH.acs" and delete it to delete the AVG Toolbar search history.
