How to Install an Exhaust Wrap
An exhaust wrap keeps the exhaust's exterior cooler and the inside warmer and more insulated. The exhaust wrap on a motorcycle can help keep the hot exhaust pipe from burning a shoe, clothing or your legs. Installing an exhaust wrap on car exhaust headers can keep the pipes cooler, which reduces the heat under the hood. Exhaust wrap can increase the performance of both cars and motorcycles. If you know how to install an exhaust wrap correctly, you can make an inexpensive improvement to your ride.

Start at one end of the pipe and make one wrap that is flush with the end of the pipe. Make the next wrap directly on top of this one. Move every wrap after this to cover half of the previous wrap. Overlap have the last wrap all the way down the pipe to the end. Make two complete wraps here that are flush with the end of the pipe.

Cut the wrap left overhanging with a sharp knife or scissors. Place a piece of wire around the center of the last wrap and twist it at the top to secure it. The twisted piece can be pushed flat against the wrap to hide it.

Tips & Warnings
Always wear gloves when handling the exhaust wrap because there are pieces of fiberglass in it.
Do not use paint that is not for high heat. Exhaust pipes get extremely hot and will burn regular paint, causing damage.
