In the life of every boat trailer tire, the day comes when it must be disposed of. While trailer tires can last for years, they eventually become threadbare and must be replaced. Or boat trailer tires may pop and need to be removed and replaced. But like all tires, old boat trailer tires can be dangerous to the environment and must be disposed of properly. Step 1

Call your local municipality and see if it accepts tires. Some municipalities do accept tires and recycle them.
Step 2

Check other recycling options. Even if your local city or county does not recycle old boat tires, a private company may recycle them as long as you drop them off.
Step 3

Ask the dealer from whom you purchase new boat trailer tires if they will take your old boat trailer tires. While you may not get anything in return, the dealer may be willing to take the tires.
Step 4

Place an advertisement for the tires. Again, you may not be able to get money for them, but people or organizations in your community might have a need for old tires. They may use them to build rope swings at a local park or plant flowers inside them.
