How to Get to Know a Girl

One of the most frustrating and confusing points in a boy's life is when he first becomes interested in girls and attempts to follow through with his desires. The results can be heartbreaking as the boy slowly realizes he has no idea how to really get to know a girl. Sadly, the basic tenets for forging true companionship often remain unlearned into adulthood. Here are some pointers to help boys of all ages get going in the right direction.

Things You'll Need

Instructions

Make eye contact when speaking to her. When you make eye contact in conversation, it makes you vulnerable to the person you are speaking with and allows her to determine if you are trustworthy. She will be much more interested in getting to know you if you show her the "windows to the soul," as Shakespeare once called the human eyes.

    • 2

Listen, truly listen, when she speaks. In most social situations where people are meeting and getting to know each other, they are simply waiting for a turn to talk and therefore aren't really hearing what others are saying. Don't wait for your turn to talk; instead listen to what she is saying and respond to that. Pay attention to her instead of trying to impress her with your turn at bat at the table of conversation.

    • 3

Don't assume anything about her. Ask her questions. Making an assumption about a person will lead you to base your conversation on those assumptions, which will get you nowhere, as it will either confuse or anger (probably both) the person you are trying to get to know. Assumptions aren't facts. If you want to get to know her, ask the appropriate questions that made you curious about her in the first place.

Tips & Warnings

  • Listen to her and don't try to impress her with how many toys you have, how much money you make or how much weight you can lift.

  • Never make assumptions about people, especially those you want to get to know well.
