Instead of relying on AOL dial up for your Windows Vista PC, you can download AOL's high speed service if you have a broadband connection. AOL's web browser, AIM and other features will load quicker when you upgrade to the high speed service. Different broadband service types support AOL high speed for Windows Vista, including FIOS, DSL, Cable or Satellite ISPs.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Set up your broadband connection for Windows Vista. Before upgrading, you will need to have a current subscription to a broadband ISP. The way that you install the particular service will depend on the type of broadband connection you have opted for.

  2. Step 2

Upgrade through the AOL website to the latest version of AOL high speed. This high speed internet service will provide you with quicker browsing capabilities. You will have several plan options, including the free service or the monthly plans that provide backup dial up access and anti-virus security. Sign up prior to download by providing some basic information about yourself on the registration page. Open the executable file and follow the download instructions.

  3. Step 3

Open the AOL sign in screen on Windows Vista after the download is complete and you have restarted your PC. Once you are on this screen, select the "Setup" option. Once you are redirected, choose to go to "Expert Setup."

  4. Step 4

Click the "Devices" tab from the available selections. Choose the auto detection tool in order to allow AOL high speed to look for your high speed internet connection. It will then compile a list of available ISPs.

  5. Step 5

Confirm your selection once you find your ISP listed under the available devices. Apply your changes and then sign into AOL. You can now navigate using your broadband router in Windows Vista.
