How to Fix a Computer Timer Problem
Does the clock on your computer continue to lose minutes or just not seem to work at all? No matter how many times you go in and fix the time, does it slip back out of sync? The problem could just be standard imperfections with the computer's internal clock. The solution is as easy as enabling your computer's ability to synchronize time with the Internet.

Click on the "Start" button, generally located at the lower left corner of the desktop.

Scroll up and click the "Control Panel."

Open the "Date and Time" icon. Vista users may have to select the "Classic View" option to find this icon.

Click on the "Internet Time" tab at the top right of the opened Window.

Click the "Change Settings" button.

Check the box titled "Synchronize with an Internet time server."
The "Server" box may have "time.windows.com" listed, but there are other options to choose from. Select which is best for you and you have successfully synchronized your computer's timer with the Internet.

Tips & Warnings
If the timer on your computer has stopped working completely, your "CMOS" battery may have died. In such a case, you should get the battery replaced.
These steps are only applicable for Windows users. People using other operating systems may require different steps to solve this problem.
