Tips & Warnings
If your budget allows, you can skip the pirate party favors and do a pirate pinata instead. Just fill the pinata with candy and small pirate-themed toys. Give each child a reusable pirate-themed cup that they can fill with candy and take home. You should be able to find these with the other pirate party supplies.
Don't give out the party favors until just before each child leaves because chances are they have already filled up on cake and ice cream.
Always give age-appropriate items as party favors. Small toys are choking hazards for young children. Skip hard candies as these can be a choking hazard for all kids.
Keep allergies in mind when planning the party. Parents will most likely tell you if their child has a serious food allergy but it never hurts to double check.
