How to Install New Fonts to Microsoft Word

Microsoft Word comes with a pre-installed list of many different fonts. However, if you want to use something fresh or you're just looking for an original font, all you need to do is to install a new font to your Windows operating system. The new fonts will be transferred to Microsoft Word automatically.

Things You'll Need:

  • WinRar Archiver
  1. Step 1

    Download the desired fonts to your computer. Many websites offer free fonts, such Microsoft Typography or 1001 Free Fonts (see Resources).

  2. Step 2

    The downloaded font files are usually archived to make them smaller. Use WinRar Archiver software to extract the files by double clicking on the file. Note location of the decompressed files on your system.

  3. Step 3

    Go to "Start" menu.

  4. Step 4

    Click on "Control Panel."

  5. Step 5

    Double click on "Fonts."

  6. Step 6

    Click the "File" menu tab.

  7. Step 7

    Click on "Install New Font."

  8. Step 8

    Browse to the location of your downloaded fonts and click on the desired font.

  9. Step 9

    Click "OK."
