How to Make the iPhone Internet Faster
The iPhone is a great tool that gives you Internet access wherever you are. But the Internet on the iPhone isn't always as fast as it is on your computer. Fortunately, there are several ways you can speed up the Internet on the iPhone, whether you have an iPhone 2G or 3G.

Let's Make This Quick

1
Join a wireless network whenever available. Whether you have an iPhone 2G or 3G, your Internet speed will always be faster when you're on a wireless network. Make sure your Wi-Fi is enabled in the iPhone Settings and that you join wireless networks when possible. Your iPhone can prompt you if a wireless network is available.

Browse the web using mobile versions of websites. Even if you're on a wireless network, some sites with large amounts of data can take a while to load. For this reason, "mobile" versions of sites are available that contain less content and are thus faster to load. Popular websites like Amazon.com, Facebook.com and CNN.com all have mobile versions that will automatically load on your iPhone when you access them. You can always access the full version of the site if you prefer.

Use an iPhone RSS (Really Simple Syndication) reader if you read a lot of news or blogs. Many sites have an RSS feed that you can easily bookmark on the iPhone. RSS enables you to view small previews of news stories or blog entries that load quickly. The App Store has several free RSS readers. Some sites, like nytimes.com and ap.org, even have their own applications in the App Store.

Tips & Warnings
Disable the "Ask to Join Wireless Networks" option in Network Settings if you're getting tired of being asked to join wireless networks while out and about. If you're at Starbucks, AT&T offers free Wi-Fi access for iPhone owners. Open up Safari and log in for fast access.
Don't assume that a random network you've joined is safe for sensitive information like email, banking or business. Open Wi-Fi networks are convenient but not necessarily secure.
