Instructions

Select and measure the wall space in your bathroom where you would like to have a window. If this space is opposite of an existing mirror the two mirrors with reflect off of one another creating an open space illusion. A window placement on a back wall can add depth to a cramped space.

Find an old pane window that fits. You want a window that not only fits the space you have selected but also the look and feel of the space you are creating. The window at the top of the page has a flower box that could hold anything from dried flowers to candles to antique books. The image here is of a window that will do more to give a small space a big feel by being lean, with large panes for maximum mirror reflection. Online auction sites have many old pane windows ranging from 10 to 50 dollars, depending on design.

Once you have selected your window it is time to get a mirror to place behind the window glass. You may get lucky and find a mirror the right size. If not don't panic, any glass shop will be able to custom cut a mirror to mount behind your window's glass for a nominal fee.

Re-finish the wood frame of the old pane window. If your window does not have the condition or color that you need, you will want to re-finish the wood at this time. Antique crackle paint can be used for a weathered look that will protect the wood.

Once the wood frame is ready, using mounting hardware that you would use to mount a mirror on the wall, mount the mirror onto the back of your window, ensuring that the reflecting side of the mirror is to the front.

Hang your new window on the bathroom wall space that you selected using hardware intended for heavier objects, preferably in a wall stud.
