This step by step instruction on drawing an easy cat is fun to try. I'm not an artist but I love to doodle.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Paper
  • Pencil
  • Eraser
  1. Step 1
This is The First Step For Drawing A Cat

To start your cat drawing, draw a straight horizontal line about an inch long. On each end of that line, draw a small slanted line about 1/2 inch long, moving upward.

  2. Step 2
Your Cat's Head Is Taking Shape

Draw two straight vertical lines down from the first line. One line from each end.

  3. Step 3

Make two slanted lines off of each of the last two lines. They should move towards each other making almost a V shape. I try to place a lightly drawn cross where I plan to put the face.

  4. Step 4
    Cat's Body and Feet

Just above the V start a circle that ends on the other side of the V. This is your cat's body. Below the body, draw four small circles. These will become the paws.

  5. Step 5
Cat's Legs and Start of the Tail

Above the first line you drew and between the first slanted lines you drew, draw a curvy line. This will become the tail. Now draw some curvy lines connecting the small circles to the body as shown in the picture. These are the cat's legs.

  6. Step 6
    Cat Face and Tail

Now using the lightly sketched cross or your own judgment, draw two ovals for the eyes. Draw a light triangle for the nose. A few curved lines coming off he nose makes the mouth. Don't forget a few dots with whiskers coming from above the mouth. At the top of your cat's head, you drew a curvy line. Now draw matching curvy lines on either side of the first curvy line. Connect the curvy lines with a curved line. Now you've finished the tail.

  7. Step 7

Now add in your shading and details. This is where your cat really starts to take shape.
