2. Look at the 12-month New York Sales calendar at the New York Magazine website to see when certain sample sales and other sales take place throughout the year.

3. Visit the Top Button website and select NY-NJ-CT to see sales happening in the New York City area.

4. Sign up for Thrillist to receive daily emails showing when certain sales are going to happen in the area you specify. Enter your email and password, then choose the New York area. Click "Sign Up For Free" and choose the type of notifications you want to receive.

5. Watch the local newspapers in New York City for stores advertising their sample sales and other promotions.
