Clean a Shark Euro Pro Iron

Shark is a company that makes household products like vacuums, steam cleaners and irons. They are the manufactures of the Euro-Pro series of irons and recommend these irons be self cleaned every two weeks to remove calcium, scale and other elements, even more often by owners who have hard water. Euro- Pro irons should be cleaned correctly so that the iron does not damage your clothing and so that the iron can last a long time.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Sink
  • Water
  • Wet rag
  1. Step 1

Always follow manufacture directions. If you don't have yours anymore, you can download most Euro-Pro iron's manuals off the Shark's website (see Resources below). The following steps are usually how to clean an Euro-Pro Iron.

  2. Step 2

Fill the water level in your Euro-Pro iron to its maximum level and set it on any steam setting. Place it upright on your ironing board or another safe place isolated from other things. Plug it in.

  3. Step 3

Set the iron to its hottest setting and wait for it to heat up. The temperature light will stop flashing when it is finished, usually about five minutes.

  4. Step 4

Change the steam setting to point to "self clean" and hold the iron over a sink in the ironing or horizontal position. Steam and boiling water will begin to come out of the Euro-Pro iron's holes on the sole plate.

  5. Step 5

Start to move your iron back and forth horizontally to aid in this process. Calcium, scale and other build ups are being ejected out of the Euro-Pro iron.

  6. Step 6

Dump out any left over water after your Euro-Pro iron stops spitting out steam and water. To do this, first set your steam control position to 0 (zero) and press the button for the electric temperature control until the power light turns on. Unplug your iron, turn your iron over the sink and dump out the water.

  7. Step 7

Let your Euro-Pro iron cool down completely before you put it away.
