How to Make Scented Catalytic Lamp Oil

You can make your own scented catalytic lamp oil. Using the precise combination of the appropriate alcohol and fine essential oils will reward you with extremely cost effective lamp oil that won't smoke as it's used.

Things You'll Need

• 16 oz. isopropyl alcohol, at least 91 percent
• Scented essential oil
• Quart jar with lid
• Funnel
• Small containers with tight lids
• Permanent marker
• Small self-adhesive labels

Instructions

1. Pour the alcohol into a quart jar.

2. Carefully add 10 drops of essential oil to the alcohol. Stir it and smell. If you wish, you can add up to two more drops. Create your own combination of multiple fragrances, but don't use more than a total of 12 drops per 16 oz. of alcohol.

3. Put the lid on the jar and tighten it well. Combine the ingredients thoroughly by shaking the jar gently.

4. Funnel the catalytic lamp oil into smaller containers. Cap them tightly.

5. Write the contents of the lamp oil containers on self-adhesive labels with permanent marker. Affix a label to each container.

6. Choose a dark, cool spot to store the catalytic lamp oil indefinitely.
