How to Get Bumper Stickers Off Glass
Bumper stickers left on glass for a long period of time seem to form an impenetrable bond. Attempts at removal are complicated by the fact that glass can be easily scratched. There are, however, ways to remove even the most stubbornly stuck stickers from glass without harming the glass or wasting a whole afternoon peeling the sticker off bit by bit. Does this Spark an idea?
Things You'll Need
- Adhesive removal product (e.g., Goo Gone sticker lifter, Goof Off, 3M Citrus-based spray)
- Clean towel
- Plastic scraper
Instructions

1
Apply the adhesive remover around all the edges of the sticker. Wait a few minutes to let the chemicals permeate the paper and adhesive.
-
2
Scrape one corner edge of the sticker with a plastic scraper. A scraper can be purchased from a hardware store if one doesn't come with the adhesive removal product.
-
-
3
Hold onto the loosened edge and gently pull up. Slide the plastic scraper beneath the sticker, pushing a little as you pull the sticker up with the other hand. Add more adhesive remover if the sticker remains stuck firmly to the glass.
-
4
Once the paper is peeled away, apply a few more drops of the adhesive remover to the area where the bumper sticker was placed. This will help you clean any adhesive that remains on the glass.
-
5
Wipe any remaining oil from the glass. If any adhesive still remains, add more of the remover product, scrape gently with the plastic scraper and wipe with a clean towel.

Tips & Warnings
If you can't find an adhesive remover at your local store, use dish detergent containing citrus oil along with warm water to loosen and remove the bumper sticker.
Do not use a metal scraper to remove the sticker. It will scratch the glass. Always work in a well-ventilated area when using adhesive removers.
