How to Type a Heart Symbol on the Computer

Windows keyboard keycodes allow you to type certain symbols using certain key combinations. These keycodes can be used to write letters with accents, foreign characters, math symbols, etc. This article provides steps for using a keycode to type a heart symbol.

Instructions

1. LOCATE THE LEFT "ALT" KEY ON YOUR WINDOWS KEYBOARD.

   This is the key that is used in a lot of keycode combinations. It should be on the bottom left of your keyboard.

2. LOCATE THE NUMBER "3" ON YOUR WINDOWS NUMBER KEYPAD.

   The number keypad is located on the far right on most computers. If you do not have a number keypad, you will not be able to type a heart using this Windows keyboard keycode.

3. PRESS AND RELEASE THE LEFT "ALT" KEY AND THE NUMBER "3".

   Press and release the keys simultaneously. If you do not release the keyboard keys at the same time, the heart will not appear. You may have to try this a few times to get the exact timing right.

• SOME WORD PROCESSING PROGRAMS AND BROWSERS WILL NOT RECOGNIZE ALT KEYCODE COMBINATIONS.
