How to Stop Ingrown Hair thumbnail
Ingrown hairs can be very uncomfortable.

Ingrown hairs can be swollen, painful and hard to get rid of if you're not sure how to do it. Shaving and wearing tight clothing are often the cause of ingrown hair, but sometimes the hair just doesn't exit the follicle properly (it folds up on itself). It's easy to do your own ingrown hair treatment. Here's how to stop ingrown hair: Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

    • 1

Find the ingrown hair - it will look like a small pimple with hair below the skin.

    • 2
Apply a warm washcloth to the ingrown hair.

Apply a warm wet washcloth to the ingrown hair to help open the pore, soften the hair and bring it closer to the surface of your skin.

    • 3
Remove the ingrown hair with tweezers.

Use tweezers to remove the ingrown hair from the skin. Don't dig at the hair if you can't grasp it with the tweezers - digging can lead to infection.

    • 4
Wash the ingrown hair with Neutrogena Cleanser.

For a thorough ingrown hair treatment, wash and rinse the area with Neutrogena Liquid Cleanser and warm water.

    • 5

Swab the ingrown hair with hydrogen peroxide to protect against infection.
