Make a quick and easy paper bow tie.
If you need a quick, easy and cheap way to make a bow tie for a costume or for kids' playtime, make one out of paper. This bow tie is made with wrapping paper, which can be found in an almost unlimited variety of colors and styles. If you simply want a white bow tie, plain copy paper would work as well.
Difficulty:
Easy
Instructions
Paper
Ruler
Scissors
Hot glue
Glue gun
Small spring-style paper clip
1
Cut one 1-by-4-inch piece of paper and one 10-by-10-inch piece of paper.
2
Fold the large piece of paper accordion-style in ½-inch folds.
3
Bend the two ends of the paper backward, keeping the folds horizontal. Glue the ends of the folded paper to the back of the tie at the center.
4
While holding folds in place, loosely wrap the narrow strip of paper around the center of the bow tie several times. Glue at the back.
5
Gently pull apart the folds to "fluff out" the bow tie.
6
Lift up the ends of the paper clip so it can be squeezed. Glue one half of the clip to the back of the bow tie in the center. Clip onto a shirt to wear.
