How to Tell If a Tag Heuer Is Real

Tag Heuer has long been a premier name in men's watches. A Tag Heuer watch is a great gift to yourself, or to a loved one. There are plenty of great deals online for Tag Heuer, but you may find that some deals are too good to be true. Some merchants try to sell Tag Heuer replicas while representing that they are real.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  1. Step 1

Take a look at the face of the watch. Along the bottom, it should have the words "T Swiss Made T." If it says anything like "Japanese Movement," it is a replica Tag Heuer.

  2. Step 2

Inspect the case with a magnifying glass. A Tag Heuer watch will be finished neatly and professionally around all edges around the watch.

  3. Step 3

Flip the watch over and examine the back of the watch face. There should be an authentic Tag Heuer logo, as well as a serial number listed underneath. This serial number is a clue that you have the real deal.

  4. Step 4

If buying secondhand from a dealer or casual seller, ask to see the original receipt for the watch. It should give you added clues about where the watch was purchased, and what the original price was that was paid.

Tips & Warnings
  • Remember that if the deal seems too good to be true, such as a Tag Heuer watch selling for 70 to 80 percent off the retail price, it should be a red flag to you. Purchase from reputable dealers only, and beware of low priced internet merchants.
