How to Replace Rear Deck Speakers

1. Purchase replacement speakers that fit your vehicle and your stereo system. The most common size speaker for the rear deck of a car, is 6 by 9 inches. Some cars might have 5-by-8 inch speakers. Also make sure that the power of your stereo is not too much for the new speakers.

2. Disconnect the negative battery lead.

3. Unscrew the speakers from their mounting points. You can gain access to the rear deck speakers by going through the trunk. If you can't fit in the trunk, it is worth asking the help of a smaller person.

4. Attach a speaker harness adapter to the new speaker and attach the speaker wires to the vehicle.

5. Screw in the new rear deck speaker using the same screws used to secure the old speaker.

6. Reconnect the negative battery lead.

7. Test the rear deck speakers. Turn the "Fader" switch on your stereo, isolate the rear deck speakers and listen for clarity.
