Clean Greasy Wicker Baskets

Wicker baskets are a beautiful decorative addition to any home. Wicker is a style of material comprised of grasses or vines that are woven together to make things such as baskets, furniture and even rugs. Wicker baskets can look good in any room of the house. However, when these baskets are in the kitchen they are prone to accumulate grease.

Step 2

Make a solution of 1 gallon of lukewarm water and 2 tbsp. grease-cutting liquid detergent such as Dawn.

Step 3

Soak a clean cloth in the soapy water and wring it thoroughly.

Step 4

Wipe the baskets with the solution. Use a toothbrush for any hard-to-clean areas.

Step 5

Use a separate clean cloth soaked in clear water and wrung out to "rinse" the baskets.

Step 6

Dry the baskets with a dry, clean cloth.

Tip

To disinfect the baskets, apply lavender oil or tea tree oil with a soft clean cloth.

Warning

Make sure that baskets are dry completely because mold may develop in between the small crevices.
