Buying a treadmill is one of the best investments you can make whether you are looking for women's fitness equipment or men's fitness equipment. Here's how to buy the best treadmill for you at the best price.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  1. Step 1

Before you buy a treadmill, it is important to take a few things into account so that you buy the right treadmill and don't waste your money on the wrong treadmill. Your weight, height are important factors as well as where you will be keeping your treadmill.

Weight: Anyone over 180 pounds should have a treadmill motor that is at least 2.5 horsepower. Any less and you will break the motor.

Height: Anyone over 6 feet tall should get a minimum of 50 inches on the treadmill belt. Any less and you may have an accident on the treadmill.

Storage: Are you looking for an under the bed storage treadmill or a standing folding treadmill for a corner in your home?

Additional features may include blood pressure monitor, shock absorbers and a built in treadmill fan.

A treadmill feature that everyone should have is an emergency shut off button so be sure to include this on your list.

  2. Step 2

Once you have made your list of features that you are looking for in a treadmill you should go online and begin your search for product reviews and price comparisons. Epinions and Price Grabber are excellent starts to your treadmill search. User reviews can be especially helpful when buying a treadmill.

Keep your list of treadmill features handy so that you do not forget any of them during your search.

  3. Step 3

Now that you have narrowed your search down to just a few treadmills, go shopping at your local sporting goods store. Keep your list of treadmill prices and treadmill models with you during this search so that you are shopping apples to apples if you know what I mean.

When shopping at sporting goods stores, it is a good idea to check online for money saving coupons first. Coupon Cabin and Coupon Mountain are good search engines for coupon shopping.

If you have a good credit history, you may be eligible for a store credit card. Typically when you open a store credit card you will get a good discount on your first purchase. If you do not plan on paying your credit card balance off in full, this option is probably not a good idea for you since these types of credit cards typically charge 20 percent interest.

  4. Step 4

Shopping on line has its advantages, you can have the item shipped to your home so that you do not have to carry and transport the treadmill. Treadmills are VERY heavy.

  5. Step 5

If you already have a credit card with points, you may be able to get your treadmill for free. Call your credit card company and find out how many points you have and how you can redeem them. You may be surprised at what you can do.
