How to Make Pom Poms Out of Streamers

Select your colors of streamers. You may choose to use more than one color. Unroll the streamer roll quite a bit.

With a ruler, measure a piece of a streamer to 24 inches long. Cut the streamer at this point. Use this as a model for the rest of the streamers. Cut 100 streamers at this length.

Separate the streamers into two stacks of 50 streamers each, one stack for each pom pom. Take one streamer strip and lay it out and smooth it on a flat surface. Place a second streamer over the first but set it at a slight angle so it crosses and overlaps slightly. Place a third one on top of this also at a slight angle but in the opposite direction.

Continue this cross overlapping pattern until you have put all 50 streamers down. They should fan out and create an almost round shape. Find the center of the streamers and pick up the stack. Place a rubber band around the center and carefully tighten it with a couple loops.

Plug in your hot glue gun and heat up the hot glue. Choose a wide (3 inches or more) ribbon and cut off a 3-inch section. Cover one end of the ribbon with hot glue. Place the ribbon end over the rubber band and hold in place so it dries. Wrap the rest of the ribbon around the center of the streamers several times. Cover the other end with hot glue and press it into place. Hold for several seconds to secure and allow it to dry. Repeat with the other pom pom.
