How to Uninstall AVG 8 Toolbar

However, there may come a time when you want the AVG toolbar removed, while keeping the AVG anti-virus program. By following a few simple steps you can remove the AVG toolbar in no time.

Deactivate the AVG 8 Toolbar

Open your Internet browser to your homepage.

Right-click anywhere on your AVG toolbar. You will immediately see the toolbar disappear.

To reactivate the toolbar, right-click on your address bar, and then right-click on AVG toolbar in the options list. This will bring your AVG toolbar back up.

Close all browser windows.

Click on "Start" and highlight and click on "Control Panel."

Click on "AVG" when the programs list opens, and click on "Remove."

Complete the steps to uninstall the AVG anti-virus program.

Restart your computer when the uninstall is complete.

Go to the AVG website and download and re-install the AVG anti-virus program. When you are installing, a screen will come up and ask you if you want to install the toolbar or not. At this point, do NOT check the box to install the toolbar, and continue the installation.

Tips & Warnings
Disabling the toolbar as in section 1 will not uninstall it from your computer, but will make it inactive until you choose to activate it again.
If you uninstall the anti-virus program, be sure to reinstall an anti-virus program before surfing the Internet.
