Things You'll Need:
- Shampoo
- Conditioner
- Blow dryer
- Hair brush
- Hair clips
- Flat iron
- Hairspray
-
Step 1
Shampoo, condition and blow dry your hair as you normally would.
-
Step 2
Untangle your hair with a brush, as curling does not work well on knotted hair.
-
Step 3
Part your hair either to the side or the middle, depending on which you like better.
-
Step 4
Separate your hair into sections about one inch thick each and secure each section in place with a clip. Using bigger sections will create loose curls, not spirals.
-
Step 5
Clamp the plates around one section about one inch away from the scalp. Wrap the hair around bottom plate once. The tighter you wind the hair, the tighter the curls will be.
-
Step 6
Gradually slide the plates down the section's length while continuously rotating outwards. Once the plates reach the end of the section, hold them in place for about five seconds.
-
Step 7
Let go of the plates to release the curled section.
-
Step 8
Repeat steps 5 and 6 on remaining sections. Once all sections are curled, spritz with your favorite hairspray to hold curl in place.
