Apricot is a popular ingredient in many beauty brands. Apricots have lots of vitamin A, and vitamin A is essential for youthful skin and slowing the aging process. The apricot kernel is the smooth, light-colored nut inside the rough apricot pit. This kernel is used to make the apricot scrub.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 6 apricots
  1. Step 1

Take out the pits of six apricots. Wash and allow them to dry completely.

  2. Step 2

Put pits on a cutting board and cover with plastic wrap. Crack open the pits with a mallet and remove the soft kernel. Make sure no sharp traces remain on the kernel.

  3. Step 3

Continue to pound the kernel until it turns to a powder.

  4. Step 4

Moisten the powder with 3 or 4 drops of water, or until the powder becomes a grainy paste. Or, combine with your normal cleanser by mixing equal amounts of each (about the size of a dime).

  5. Step 5

Apply to skin in circular motions and rinse thoroughly. Store in an airtight container. Use as often as desired.

Tips & Warnings
  • The powder keeps for months in an airtight container. If the smell becomes rancid, throw it out.
  • Make sure there are no traces of the external pit shell. This is far too harsh to use on the face.
