How to Keep Your Nails Clean
Keeping a clean appearance is an important aspect of daily grooming and an one of the many integral parts of promoting good health. Washing your hands with antibacterial soap may prevent the spread of germs and unwanted chemicals. However, keeping your fingernails clean may prove equally important. Fingernails can harbor dirt, grease, bacteria and other undesirable contaminants after handling objects throughout the course of the day. Things You'll Need
- Mild hand soap
- Warm water
- Fingernail brush
- Fingernail clippers with file attachment
- Latex or leather gloves

Wash your hands thoroughly with mild hand soap and warm water.

Use a fingernail brush to remove debris from underneath your fingernails while washing your hands.

Scrape stubborn debris from underneath the fingernails with the hooked portion of a fingernail clipper attachment. Keep the fingernail clippers with you throughout the day to dislodge debris from your fingernails as necessary.

Repeat the hand washing process several times a day, as needed to prevent dirt and debris buildup underneath your fingernails.

Tips & Warnings
Consider wearing latex or leather gloves before working with dirty or greasy materials. Providing a suitable barrier between your fingernails and dirty objects will reduce the effort needed to keep your nails clean.
